LOCATION
Ripon's location gives businesses access to three state highways - 44, 49 and 23 - and is only a 20-minute drive to U.S. Highway 41. The state's largest business and consumer populated markets - the Fox Cities, Green Bay, Madison and Milwaukee - are as near as one hour.

The Ripon Commonwealth Press is a weekly with a circulation of 3,600. Ripon news is also covered in the Fond du Lac Reporter and Oshkosh Northwestern papers. The two weekly shopper papers that are generated in Ripon are the Five County Buyer's Guide and The Commonwealth Express. Newspapers from Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago are also available.

INDUSTRY
The City of Ripon Kohl Industrial Park occupies 100+ acres in the northeast corner of the city.

GOVERNMENT
The governing body for the City of Ripon consists of an elected Mayor and eight-member Council and City Administrator.

POLICE AND FIRE
The Police Department consists of one Chief, 12 officers plus seven communication officers and a 10-member auxiliary police. The volunteer fire department consists of one Chief, one Deputy Chief, one Assistant to the Chief, three Captains, three LPs and 30 firefighters. Guardian Ambulance provides ambulance service for the area.

COUNTY
Ripon is located in Fond du Lac County. The county seat is located in Fond du Lac. Policy operation of Fond du Lac County is established by a 36-member Board of Supervisors who represent the 36 supervisory districts throughout the county. Policies are administered and implemented by an elected County Executive. 

Fond du Lac County is also served by the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corp., a not-for-profit organization which offers solutions-oriented services to businesses conducting and wishing to conduct business within the county.

Tourism information for the Fond du Lac area is supplied by the Fond du Lac Convention and Visitors Bureau. Tourism information for the Ripon area can be obtained directly from the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce.

HOSPITAL
Ripon Medical Center is proud of its total-access health care facility, professional staff, and state-of-the-art medical technology.  Ripon Medical Center provdes a 24-hour physician staffed emergency department, walk-in care, community wellness and health programs, and other patient services from laparoscopic and laser surgery to physical, occupational and cardiac rehabilitation.  Driven by a concern for the individual, the family, and the community, Ripon Medical Center's mission is "to improve the health care of those it serves."

EDUCATION
The Ripon Public School System has an enrollment of 1,628 students with an additional 63 students attending parochial (K-5) school.

The 1997 ACT average composite test score was 21.7.

Ripon College provides a personal, traditional, residential, liberal arts education to more than 900 students.

Moraine Park Technical College offers credit and continuing education courses at its regional center house in Ripon High School.

Ripon Public Library, located at 120 Jefferson Street, is a full service library offering printed materials for all ages, audio books, audio & video tapes and more in a newly remodeled facility. Internet capabilities allow patrons to access materials held in any of the Winnefox Library Network

Ripon offers a variety of recreational opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. Nine public parks, two year-round swimming pools, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, 3-on-3 basketball courts, walking and biking trails, playground equipment and near by golf courses serve the area.
